After 17 years of producing work at Bristol's Alma Tavern Theatre, 2014 saw Theatre West hitting the road and taking work to five venues across Bristol and Exeter. This turned out to be a fantastic move and since moving on we believe we've made some of our most diverse, challenging work to date.
To mark our first year of freedom; of not being bound or defined by a single building, we invited writers based and working in the West to apply for one of five bespoke 'packages' of support to develop a piece of work celebrating the theme of 'Moving On' for production in autumn 2015 & 2015.
We are keen to offer writers the chance to challenge and develop their practice by working in ways that wouldn't usually be possible - maybe to collaborate with another artist … to work intensively with a dramaturg … or a director … to make a research trip … or something else entirely, so in addition to a £1000 fee the five successful writers each year benefitted from a bespoke package of support.
The 2016 season of new writing featuring work by 13 writers will mark the end of our Moving On project. If you're a writer and would like to be kept informed of new opportunities in the future, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
